As a founding member of Nova Chrome, Tim Lutz has been involved with sublimation printing for over 25 years. Sublimation is an extremely versatile method for custom imprinting a variety of substrates including metal, plastic, ceramics and polyesters. It is used extensively by screen printers for custom imprinting ceramic mugs, tiles, metal award plates, plastic signs, T-shirts and myriad gift items. Some of the benefits of this versatile printing system include: no screen set-up; extremely vibrant colors; high resolution printing up to 2800 DPI for true photographic reproduction.

A year ago, Tim started another company called Magna Chrome (what’s with all the Chromes?) that involves fine art reproduction of photographs onto large sheets of high gloss metal. This unique process offers photographers a new medium for displaying their photos. Colors are rich and vibrant and because the dyes are infused into the high gloss coating, images have an almost magical luminescence.

The photo at the top of this page is Tom thigh-deep in water giving the swamp test to a piece of metal imprinted with a photo. The product passes with flying colors.Read more about it at magnachrome.com.
