East Bay Artists Guild Serves Up Controversial Art with a Side of Burritos!

April 18, 2008

On April 17, 2008, the East Bay Artists Guild held a membership meeting where member artists were encouraged to bring in their most controversial artwork for display and discussion. Chipotle Restaurant provided burritos and chips for everyone as part of their community outreach. The hot salsa was the perfect complement to the hot topic. Artwork ranged from sensitive anti-war pieces to equally sensitive nude studies.

Thank you Chipotle Restaurant for sharing your awesome food!!

March 19 Membership Meeting

EBAG’s March 2008 membership meeting included its First Ever Critique-in-the-Round. Seating was arranged around a coffee table with snacks so members could view and discuss in an intimate salon-style setting the approximately 15 paintings that were brought in. Numbers were drawn from a hat to randomize the order of discussions. Member Jeannette Fromm began each discussion with a brief, formal critique in terms of composition, after which the floor was opened for audience input. Finally, each artist was invited to add a few words about their piece. Everyone looks forward to a subsequent, similar group critique!
